Recently, according to foreign media reports, logistics giant Deutsche Post DHL announced the relocation of its North Texas distribution center to Irving, Texas, with an investment of $57.5 million for the construction of the new facility.
The new distribution center, covering 220,000 square feet, is more than twice the size of the previous facility. Ideally located at 5320 West Airport Freeway in Irving, Texas, it is only six miles from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. As a fully-owned distribution center, DHL has invested $57.5 million in land, construction, and automation technology.
The center will employ approximately 150 staff and handle domestic and international B2C e-commerce parcels. It will be equipped with state-of-the-art circular sorters that can process 24,000 parcels per hour through eight induction lines, doubling the package handling capacity of the previous site. The sorters boast an accuracy rate of 97% to 99%, ensuring efficient and high-quality order fulfillment.
Lee Spratt, CEO of DHL Americas, stated that the new distribution center is strategically located in the relatively prosperous city of Irving, Texas, facilitating quick and easy access to the international airport, thus enabling both air and ground transportation. This relocation demonstrates DHL's commitment to innovation and its ability to meet the growing transportation demands of its customers.
